For rowan

I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.
I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, who has sight so keen and strong
That it can follow the flight of song?
Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still...

For rowan

I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.
I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, who has sight so keen and strong
That it can follow the flight of song?
Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
That wowed me, redman.
(Sorry can't help rowanwitch.)
Hi swedeheart ! Yes it is a nice poem and so true as well !
Question Author
Thank you Redman.
Yes very true redman. I was re-potting plants yesterday and in one of the pots I had placed a smooth white stone at the foot of the plant, for decoration. That stone was given to me as a child back in 1965 when me and my parents were on holidays in Rhodes. A waiter at the hotel walked up to our table and placed it in front of me with a smile. Probably looking for tips from my parents ha ha but that's not the way I thought of it then and I've held on to that stone all my life. I was thinking yesterday I'd like to bring it back to Greece one day. Anyhoo, it's the same with words, tones of voice, facial expressions, touches - they all live on, much more than we ever know.

Rowanwitch over here (in Sweden) librarians are often able to help with that sort of thing, sometimes even online. Come on, quote just a little something! :)
