Kindle 3G

Anybody got one? If so, what's your opinion? Worth buying one?

Our library service is trialling ebook downloads in the new year (if I'm still there), and I have in any case put one on my Christmas list. I like to travel light where I can and I like the idea of being able to carry loads of books in the space of one.

I have a new Kindle, not the 3G but the normal wireless one and it is brilliant. Search the web, alter print size, get it to read to you. (That's not too good, it sounds like Prof Stephen Hawking) otherwise worth every penny.

Thanks Musicman. I've pretty much decided to get myself one as a combined burthday/xmas pressie, not the least because ebooks seem so much cheaper than paper ones.

Just a tip though, I ordered a sleeve for it at the same time and delivery was estimated for end Dec! Removed the sleeve and now delivery estimated in the next 5 days.
I'm going to order the sleeve separately.

I was looking at the Kindle 3G but can't really afford the £149 so have settled on one from WH Smith which they have reduced at the moment. I am going in to hospital in January and it will save carting books around all the time. Will have to see what it is like but the reviews are qquite good.

I went for the 3G because we go to the continent for extended touring holidays and I will be able to download a new book much more easily with this.

That's what I thought slinky but not sure how long it will be reduced so better ask him now. I'll let you know what I think of it as it should arrive tomorrow.
