Royal Icing for wedding cakes........................................

I am using royal icing for my daughters wedding cakes and do not want the icing so hard they cannot cut it easily on the day, I usually add glycerin to it but have never known how much per 1lb icing sugar. Could someone help me please.?

TV programme last night said it was all sugar paste now as its so much easier to use and stays soft if you can afford it the results are better
Just a few drops in a batch will help. Sugar paste is indeed fashionable but does not taste as nice, unless you make your own which is a faff.
make sure it isnt nitro-glycerine that you use, or your wedding may go off with a real bang.
