Can anyone find a list of the best-selling children's books for 2010 or more recent if one has been published, I've had a quick Google and can't find one that is solely children's books. TIA

I don't know if this link is of any use - for children's; books to the age of 7

It's somewhat useful, the only bestsellers lists that it lists are on Amazon though and as they are updated hourly the lists are currently flooded with ones to do with THE wedding! Thanks anyway!
Have you looked at Waterstone's website? It's not really what you want but does give you some ideas. 'Children' is very much split into the age groups of course.
Try the Telegraph - they do a list of best sellers for adults.

Am actually on WHSmth site atm but will check out Waterstones next. Yeah managed to find the Telegraph bestsellers adults lists but not children's!

Would particularly like a list for children under 5 if anyone has any luck!
Would the children's section of the local library be able to help?

My nieces of 9 and 6 are regularly round as the enjoy being read to, Jill Murphy's "Dear Hound" at present. Waterstones are a good source as Prudie suggests but we also keep an eye open in charity shops.

That's a good idea seadogg, could go and ask for a list of most frequently borrowed books. Couldn't find the list on the Telegraph site, found a list of 20 greatest children's books but couldnt seem to find a list of best selling children's books for under 5s, am being quite picky I know!
Not sure about a list that covers the entire year, but 'The Bookseller' compiles weekly charts for a number of categories, children's included:

I work in a book shop and depending on the ages it would be something like this:
Harry Potter
Twilight
anything Darren Shan
Wimpy Kid -Jeff Kinney
Hettie Feather-Jaqueline Wilson
Michael Morpurgo
Rick Riorden's Percy Jackson
Daisy Meadows fairy series
Robert Muchmore Cherub and Hardy Boys series
Julia Donaldson's Gruffalo
any Moshie Monsters books though they are activity not novels
kids tend to buy books that are in a series rather than stand alone novels. though Michael Morpurgo is the exception of course
Oh and Anthony Horrowitz is doing very well in the 8 + section with his Scorpia Rising new issue.
Ta, Dotty, could be one for my girls.
