Hi, has anyone been to Wookey Hole lately? Is it something you can do if it is raining? Thanks (Know this should probably be somewhere else but I felt I was more likely to get a quick answer here as we are planning on going tomorrow.)

Its ok in the rain, most of it is inside.
Have never been sherrard but I just LOVE the Wookey Hole Cave Aged Cheddar and would really like to visit the area one day. Hope you and yours have a great day :D

Thanks both - just need to make the sarnies then (and pack the raincoats!).
if its a nice day go up jacobs ladder you get a great view for miles around and visit the sweet shop to watch sweets being mad ( i went to school with the owners son), we always go a few times a year as its only about 10 miles from us.

Dave.
Understand your question as many caves of embouchure carry steams which can flood. As a show cave Wookey must be O.K. tho' not personally been there. Preferred the sporting caves of Mendip
Ive done a few of the proper caves on the mendips, and got very wet and cold especially after some serious rainfall.

Thanks Webbo and Seadogg - will check out the sweet shop if we get a chance. Seadogg - need 'safe' things because of the children.
I went there many years ago, mostly indoors and cheddar gorge is also great.
if there was any danger they would not let you in, just wear some trainers or shoes with grip as with all caves it can be a little damp and slippery in places.

Dave.
oh and if its dry go on the bus tour as well, i think entry to the caves covers it all, bus tour, and jacobs ladder.

I have fond memories of Wookey Hole Sherrardk, it reminds me of my Auntie Anne who died last year. We went to stay with her and my Uncle for a few days and they took us to WH. Last time I saw her.

Have a great time with the kids, make lots of happy memories like we did :o)

Hi Ratter - we were thinking of Cheddar Gorge at first but Wookey Hole seems to have more stuff for the kids (dinosaurs, fairy garden, pirates, etc - so there should be something for all of them).

Hi Webbo - one of the three year old twins is a bit of an ar$e and can fall over her own shadow so this should be manageable for her.
You missed out the scrumpi in the Hunters, Priddy lol. Could be a tough mile or so back to the Wessex Caving Club Hut
We done both places the same day, great day out. At the time, Wookey hole were displaying all of the exhibits not currently on display at Maddam Tusauds.
These sweets being mad. I suppose they are fruit and nut cases.
the 3yr old will be fine as the is plots of hand rails but there some slightly scary bits the may make them jump a little.

Ah scrumpy in the hunters at priddy, and warming up in front of the fire, happy memories, especially after a soaking in swildons hole and the sump.

*plenty
Webbo3 is talking about Cheddar Gorge, not Wookey Hole.
Jacobs ladder and the sweet shop and the bus tour are at Cheddar.
Wookey is all on one site - caves, papermaking, old penny slot machines - can't remember what else.
Should be a good day out.
So i am Puzzled, always get them confused as i tend to go to cheddar more often, personally i prefer cheddar.
