Ladies - Style advice please!

We've got our xmas do coming up in a couple of weeks. We usually take a huge bunch of our customers for an evening in a big hotel but because of costs we're keeping it low key this year and it's just us going to an Italian in town then a few bars after. So I'm looking at outfits and so far these two have caught my eye but I can't decide if they're a bit OTT. All the lads wives and g/f's will be there who all happen to be effortlessly stunning, which sadly I am not so I want to make some impact without looking like I'm trying too hard.

What do you think of these? (I'm hoping these models just have really long legs and the dresses wouldn't be quite so short on me)

The first one is a bit 'hooker on a night off' and the second looks like a bed sheet wrapped around her.

I prefer the first one. Something like that doesn't go out of fashion either.

The second one looks a bit like cavewoman'ish...

I'd go for the first one if I had to choose between them (I don't like either for me!) - but these do say Petite, so I wouldn't count on the models having long legs! Doesn't the description give the length?

I think a) is fine if you have a figure like that and b) the one shoulder thing has never worked for me, but I may be a bit old ;o)

The length thing doesn't really help me at the moment as I don't have a tape measure to measure myself and they're always different on anyway.

i'm prob older than you, and liked neither very much!

this year i have bought a silk black 'coast' dress from ebay for £8, to be worn with existing heels and handbag! and will have my hair done and do my nails and makeup myself!

a longer hem would be more flattering and give a better impression, i believe!

I think both are very nice. I like the 2nd one better though, it has an Ancient Grecian look about it.

I'm 28.

I'm normally a size 12 at the moment but have quite a flat tummy so I'm not too concerned about fitted stuff but I did think the second one would be handier to hide things once I've stuffed myself full of pasta.

Both nice but I think better to wear perhaps trousers and top. Lets face it people will be looking at your top half most of the time. A really nice classy top & a long black skirt is stylish. If you must wear a dress? mmm! 2nd one.
