My brain seems to have turned to mush.

A private investigator in America who owns nothing but the clothes on his back and his gun. He is a tall man, a loner, who drinks coffee from a disposable cup because he is always ready to move.
There are lots of books in this series.

Jack Reacher is not a P.I. he is an ex-Military Policeman. he doesn't routinely carry a gun, and he drinks coffee out of what ever it comes in.

His only possessions are his bank card and a fold-up toothbrush.

I highly reccomend all the novels.
