Hmm. A bit stumped by this really as they are so different! I suppose all deal to an extent with themes of leadership/kingship, the body politic, the state, pride, power struggles, world-turned-up-side-down and the like, but in different ways and with different consequences.

Please tell us when you find out the answer. I did both the tempest and Macbeth at skool and no-one told us they were connnected.

It cant be style - one is a tragedy, and one a comedy

it cant be basis - one for an accession of a king, one based on recent discoveries - Tempest and one on Terence's menaechmi

Are they all late?

n the meantime a friend has contacted Shakespeare Centre Library.  They weren't completely sure but thought most likely was witchcraft which was mentioned in all three plays or memorable storms.

It's a quiz question called L J's Marathon which is printed on a website.  The answers will also be printed later after the closing date 26th May so we can all find out then, but it's the last answer that I need. Thanks for your help.

Errr. They were all written by Shakespeare?????
So what was the answer?

Answer put on web-site today. - The three shortest plays - even the Shakespearean  centre library didn't know that,  I got that and 3 other questions wrong but it was a difficult quiz Thanks for your help everyone.

Unless they are all exactly the same length then being the shortest, the second shortest, and the third shortest hardly seems to come within the category of being something they have in common! I hope the rest of the quiz was better!
