best place to buy london theatre tickets
9 Answers
me and hubby want to celbrate our anniversary in september by seeing a couple of shows, with a one night stay. but, googling has brought up so many! Who is the best? Direct from the theatre box office, or in a package type thing?
(We don't have too much to spend, so we really are looking for the cheapest!)

We stayed at the Charing Cross Hotel for a night recently which I can recommend as being comfortable and close to the theatres. We booked through Last Minute.com (well in advance) for a good rate, but ate out as their restaurant was pricy.

I was looking for tickets for a show a few months ago and found that a lot of the websites I looked on were offering tickets for, say, £75-80 but the actual tickets were only £55 ones.... huge mark up!!
I then found ATG Tickets who were selling tickets for all shows at their real face value. The website was good and you could see the seating plans for the show and pick where your seats were. Hope this helps x

Totally depends on what show you want to see.
If it's not one of the big 'tourist shows' use the TKTS booth in Leicester Square (or their website which always tells you what they've got available); or alternatively lastminute.com which is excellent.
Otherwise use either the theatre's own box office or whatever official agency the individual theatre uses. Avoid the third-party agents at all costs!

Some sites offering packages are OK and others are not. A very popular a safe site is
http://www.lastminute...e/theatre-breaks.html
I've used it for a hotel and it was fine.
I would also trust http://www.visitlondo...top-10-theatre-breaks
At any of the package sites you might get seats in the Gods to keep the prices down, so check that they're reasonably happy with the seats if you can before you buy.
