What’s the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you?

As a single parent, never claiming any benefits at all, and working hard to pay the mortgage and keep hearth and home together, my boyfriend of
3 months arrived one evening and presented me with a large envelope. Inside was an insurance policy he’d taken out on his own life and payable to me, thus ensuring that if anything happened to him, my mortgage would be paid and I wouldn’t have to worry about money.

Reader, I married him.

In 1982, my parents literally emptied their bankbook in order to give us the money for the deposit on our first house. We never did pay it all back and they never asked for it.

Like Tilly, my parents gave me money for a deposit on my house when I was 21. They have also just given my brother money for a deposit for his house using nearly all of their money. My dad said that he is going to ive me mmore to pay my mortgage off as I don't have much left to pay. I have tried to persude my parents to use the money themselves or open up a savings account for Little Tiggs but they said they want to give it to me. I've given up arguing with my dad as he can be quite stubborn! Like me ;o)

nicest *financial* thing is my parents paying for a solicitor for us, so we can keep a violent thug away from my daughter and grandson! alas the courts had other ideas!

nicest personal thing is *anything* my husband does (unasked), like right now he is making breakie whilst i loll in bed!

took me to New York, he was mad as a box of frogs, but i didn't know that at the time.

On Christmas eve 2010,I came home from work to find the whole lower floor of my flat completely flooded. A tap had leaked,and a dishcloth had blocked the drain. The water was inches deep in my lounge,books and carpets soaked.
As I was wailing in tears,my mobile rang. It was a co-worker-who- knowing I was to be on my own for the holiday-was calling to invite me over for brunch the next day.
I blubbed my problems to her...within 15 minutes,she and her husband had arrive with buckets,mops and squeegee to help me get the water up.
I took myself and the dog to theirs for the night,and had Christmas day morning at theirs.
They were lifesavers that day.

My neighbour ( now deceased) used to vac my house and clean my kitchen and bake us a cake for our return from holiday. She had the key to be able to look after our lovely cat (now deceased) She loved him to bits and used to come around and put the telly on and sit with him for hours. In fact it wasnt long after the cat died, that she died. Makes you wonder. I still miss them both. Even my mother in law would never have done that for me.
