I look forward to hearing what you were really trying to say, dotty. John Carter seems to have been a big box office floperoo.
There have been various people trying to get a John Carter film made for decades, so I don't think that GRRM's success was a factor. In fact, while Game of Thrones is far more popular than I ever imagined it would be (and I've read each book within a month of publication) I'm not sure it has made that much of an impact on the "average" viewer.

There's more than 3 books, btw, but the lack of box office success of the film means it's unlikely to see further installments. As I've said here before, they badly misjudged the marketing: I love ERB's work, and would have loved to see the film, but the trailers didn't convince me that it was worth the effort (and 3D tax). I'll catch it on Sky Movies, though.
I adored the 'Mars' novels as a child, and looked forward to the film.

Lack of character development and a decent plot helped its flop status, so it's unlikely there will be any more, uness DVD sales pick p.

Shame.
