They are Japanese and aren't as tough as Rotring so the needle grinds down. I have two on the go, one young one for the main drawing and the eroded one for
lighter hatching etc - for example on the posts. The good news is that they are relatively cheap at around a fiver. Cartridges are just under £2 if my memory serves me right.
I like to bring some element of texture to bear if I can......not easy in using ink!
