I had a little wander around the local Oxfam bookshop yesterday and happened upon a copy of 50 SOG.

It is beyond bad, it is dreadful, it is truly, truly awful. This is not erotica.

'Lace' was considerably more erotic than this pile of tosh.......

Mrs V has downloaded it onto her Kindle, totally out of character!

It reminds me of the queues at midnight to buy Lady Chatterly's Lover when it was first available. That was disappointing too...

don't think many folk will heed your advice eccles, at work we have been selling 100 copies a day, it's unpresidented, not even the harry potters were this big. what it does mean is a surge in the genre, so look out for an erotica section in your local bookstores by autumn. actually, anyone who thinks they could write abit of erotica, nows the time to submit it to a publisher !

I remember reading Lace ..wasn't that by Shirley Conran .
It was alright as these sort books go I suppose ....its morphed into what is now chick lit .

shaney there must be an awful lot of frustrated people, actually, over the last 3 or 4 months since we first started getting asked for it, the customers have all been young women in their late teens , twenties, many of them young mums, it's only spread to older age groups in the last 6 weeks or so.

Looking into the reviews of it on Amazon Dot it seems as if most people think it's badly written rubbish .There was one review that had me in stitches .

Spelling out your theme for the reader in every third chapter is an adroit strategy.
Forcing the word 'dearest' as many, many times as possible into a sentence really, really, improves it.
Newcomers to oral sex have no gag reflex.

I think I'll pass and stick to a good murder mystery :)

It's badly written drivel, the woman that wrote it must be laughing all the way to the bank, and just think, films are nearly always a bad version of a book so gawd help us!

It's a terrible book isn't it?

To be hones,t I only downloaded it on my Kindle as I'd heard so much about it and I believed it was pure filth- it's not, it's bilge. I'm about halfway through but slowly losing the will to live with it. I find Christian to be a loathsome character and one i'd dearly love to punch in the gob if he "smirked" at me, and If I read about the drip of a girl's "inner goddess" once more, the book's out the window.

Word of warning to anyone who's not read it- don't, at least don't buy it, total waste of your dosh!

It's not even badly written filth. It's just badly written tosh. The worst thing is I'm going to carry reading it hoping it improves.

I find it very difficult giving up on a book half way through :-(
