Mathematics underpins physics. So in that sense everything can be explained by mathematics and numbers.

My understanding of numerology is that it is largely a system of attributing significance to certain numbers or patterns, attributing definitions of human behaviour or emotional states to numbers - and that is just subjective assignment so is unlikely to offer us anything profound about the universe or the future.

Numerology is on the same spectrum as attributing factors like luck to certain numbers, or assuming that because of certain relationships between some of the fundamental universal forces, this somehow means that the universe was built with us in mind.....

Crucible- imagine you are travelling along a road, its easier to go with the flow rather than against it is it not? The whole universe is made up mathematically, so work with it not against it. Certain numbers 'flow' better mathematically than others depending on who you are and what you want to do. I practice Kaos magic and also utilise numerology within certain rituals so in that sense I suppose you could say I am attempting to influence the future but I would be hesitant to agree you could ' tell' your future with numerology. I first became interested via my wife.
