Please can somebody help and save me from going mad!

A few years ago I read a book set in St Ives, Cornwall. I can't remember that title or author but I really want to read it again. It was a contemporary fiction in the style of Mary Wesley, Judy Astley, Kathleen Rowntree, etc. The main character was Alice and she had the usual grief with kids, husband, etc. She spent a lot of time on The Island at St Ives brooding. Sounds fab I know! I just remember it conjured up lots of parts of the town very vividly.

I know this is very vague but it just might mean something to somebody and save me from going doolally!  Here's hoping...

I tried a bit of googling for you and came up with this possibility:
'Still life on sand' by Karen Hayes
You can find it on Amazon here

It is described as 'A moving and heartwarming novel set in the artists' community of St Ives'.

Question Author
Thanx for trying gen 2 but it's not the one. They weren't artists - just 'normal' people.
Could it have been The Shell Seekers by Rosamunde Pilcher.
