oh dear.
Here is me reading about welfare cutbacks , public sector pay freezes and the general state of things in the world at the moment and then I saw this.
Guess they should have tried Rolf Harris , couple of gallons of paint from B&Q and he could have knocked something up for them.

It is so obviously the product of a photograph that it may as well have been just that. The reason nearly all portraits are unsmiling is that it is not possible for a sitter to hold anything but a natural relaxed expression for the length of time required to paint a portrait.
She does though have bags under her eyes and a rather fleshy nose in reality.
What is your point about cutbacks, are artists supposed to starve? It's called trickle-down economics, and we need more, not less of it.

The painter is technically brilliant, there is no doubt in that. Have a look at his other work and you can see that comparisons with Rolf Harris paint chucking and implying that he's Photoshopped up a fake painting are missing the mark. Whether you like it or not because you want to see a pretty girl picture is another thing.
Its a photoshop job, painted from a photo - onto canvas (with a smattering of "talent" from the artist), but the Duchess of Cambridge likes it, so the customer is always right. My opinion of the finished article has no bearing on the merit of the portrait, but I feel that it's not very well executed. IMHO
