For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.To be honest, there's probably not much written before the 20th century that I'd consider reading. There are obvious exceptions, such as Thackery's 'Vanity Fair' and the works of Lewis Carroll but there's enough (fairly) modern stuff to keep me going without the need to go back to the past. (And I can't stand Jane Austen!)
