My Father drove a Churchill Tank during WW2. Many times while watching TV programs, I have often wondered if I might be witnessing my late Father on newsreel shots.

The same thought would cross my mind when my husband has read literally hundreds of war books with photos that could well have been Dad.

Dads army pal and the family have kept in touch to this day, even tho the "oldies" are long gone. The daughter recently told me she has a book that does contain a picture of both our Fathers. The caption reads "Citizens of Tunis cheer a Churchill Tank and its triumphant crew".

I was skeptical that she may be wishful thinking, but no, she had the book many years and her Father confirmed it was indeed our Father's.

I managed to get a second hand copy from Amazon and am delighted to see for myself it is indeed our Fathers.....

What a wonderful thing to find. It puts me in mind of 'shooting the past', a great piece of television drama that touched on a similar subject matter.
it's another line of the same thought - but have you ever thought how many times you might be in pther people's photo's, all around the world?
How marvelous for you. I often wonder the same thing when seeing photographs and film of troops in the Western Desert and Italy where my father was killed in 1945.
How amazing! What a wonderful find. A real family heirloom. I have lots of photos of my mother from her Land Army days and it wouldn't suprise me to see one of them in a book one day.
