I was very involved in local theatre for many years until OH took ill. Recently I was asked if I would help out with the front of house...selling programmes, raffle tickets etc.. After a few seconds thought I decided to give it a go...I would be strict...no dragging me back to costumes etc... Just a nice, gentle couple of hours twice a year renewing old friendships. What could go wrong?
Tonight was my first night....not many of us there because no-one really wants to commit but it was lovely...lots of hugs...lovely to see yous...(you haven't changed...I liked that one) as I stood there...selling my £2 programmes in my black bling. UNTIL....The head man of front of house...beside me...collapsed! With a suspected heart attack! Blimey O Riley......I know I can talk but he didn't have to go that far!
Selling programmes? No. I was front of theatre waving down the paramedics and the ambulance.
I'm beginning to feel like Typhoid Mary... :-(

Gness, can we defer the Rutland trip. I think you might be jinxed!
Oh gness, poor you. X X
Mind you, its not every woman who can go to the theatre and have men throwing themselves at their feet.
Was he ok?
Has the A&E, been informed, gness ?.

Taken from your previous thread gness, gawd I was only joking. Blimey.
O LOL - and gness, apart from the heart attack, this is one reason why I don't go down to the local theatre in rehearsal, I'd want to get involved again :~)
This sounds like an episode of Midsomer Murders. Lol. are you sure he never had a knife in his back, gness
Strange, you don't normally injure other people, just yourself, but this is beginning to look like Midsomer Murders
Sammy, snap LOL
Lol. Snap back psybbo.
Wasn't an operating theatre was it ?
Bloody hell, not another one of the so called clique succumbing to the joys of emergencies....what's happening here?
If this is a clique, I'm opting out while still sort of intact!

Tilly! Bravery girl....bravery! I don't know how he is...the ambulance took a long time to go when they got him in the back.....the paramedics didn't buy a programme though.
Tony...I thought about what you said...luckily we were near the hospital.. good job as I have four more nights and a matinee to do.
Not an operating theatre but the show is Anything Goes so I suppose it does if I am there.. :-(
Boxy...What did you do in the theatre? I love being involved..well usually. The fire at the last theatre was nothing to do with me. It was Prospero cooking burgers.

What was the play then, gness? Macdeath?

Hush DT....you'll bring bad luck! x
I starred in the nude version of that, as MacBuff.
Gness,Iworked as a Properties Mistress for three years in my early 20's, had a fantastic time, loved the atmosphere, especially first night, always fraught with nerves, and the last night, when the cast would get up to all sorts of jokes to keep us on our toes.
Hope tonight doesn't put you off.X
You are going back, aren't you?
It's the follow up act that worries me, sparkles.....lol

Oh goodness yes, Sparkles! Had forgotten the drama of first night...the tantrums...the costume disasters...I love it....well not the heart attacks probably....but everything else.
I costumed the first ever am dram performance of 42nd Street...oh the costumes! I think my real home is in the theatre...believe it or not...;-)
Did front of house for years. When things go well it can be quite amiable, then some drunken nutter wants to get in to see his mate.
Question Author
I spent my teenage years in Corby, Seadogg.........I can floor a drunken nutter. Or at least talk him into collapsing. :-(
