Hi
My Dad served as a merchant seaman during WW2 and was part of the Arctic Convoys. I am wondering if any body out there can recommend a "good read" concerning these convoys, with reference to the merchant shipping side of things.
Many thanks

I found a book at a local estate sale and on a whim began to read it... I couldn't put it down.

The title is: Flying the Red Duster: A Merchant Seaman's First Voyage into the Battle of the Atlantic 1940, by Morris Beckman.

I'm sure there are a lot of really good books on the subject out there, though.
There's Alistair McLean's classic 'HMS Ulysses'. Though written from the navy viewpoint it's still considered to be one of the best books written on the subject.
There are quite a few on Amazon.
