What happened to the 'real' family from Flowers in the Attic?

The book written by Virginia Andrews in the 80's - Flowers in the Attic was supposedly based on a true story.  Petals on the Wind was the sequel but couldn't have been a true account of what happened to the children afterwards so what really happened or was the 'based on a true story' line an advertising gimmick?

I read them all and but they were truly disturbing.

That does bring back memories.  I loved those books but the way my memory is I have totally forgotten most of them.  Would love to see the film made in 1987.

peri the film made of flowers in the attic was ok but nothing compared to the book.

I loved the Flowes in the Attic series but equally as good were the Heaven series, also V. Andrews. Has anyone else read them too?x

I too read "The Flowers" series with tears in my eyes. Has anyone read " A Boy Called IT"? by David Pelser? He tell of his childhood,just how parents can be so cruel is beyond my comprehension!

lissyl i loved the heaven series too , i may be sad but the heaven series and flowers series i love em that much i have to read them all at least once a year.

my god im sad.

fina this book is a great read it is so emotional and traumatic its the only book that i have ever really had a weak moment with watery eyes and actually feeling physically sick at some parts.
