I've just seen a copy of a letter from Cardinal Ratzinger to a German woman who has written a book about the threat that Harry Potter poses to the spiritual development of young people. Click here for article and translation.

What I find even more bizzare than the content is the signature. I can't imagine any signature less papal. Are there any graphologists out there who could shed some light?

This letter was written some years ago and has been discussed several times this week on the radio and it was felt Harry Potter is fiction and made a lot of children turn to reading. I heard on this mornings news 3oo thousand were at the shops to buy the book I,ve not read any but was really good to hear J.K.R read last night  at midnight on ITV amazing the number of people in Edingburgh.  this is an aside to your question but he was Not the Pope when letter was written.
