I am writing my biography.I was started along this road, after a Facebook conversation with my two grandsons,it soon developed into a lifetime story, and up to the present I have penned some 70,600 words, what,or where can I get any help in turning it all into a book,?
I have also written my life story for my family. Its about what life for me and other like me growing up etc. If you just want one or two copied for personal use there are people who will do it for you who would print off project for college work. Ask around the college's where students might use. Probably cost about £60-70 per copy.
Hello dtcword fan i am not in the market to make any money,i am over 81 years of age ,my only reason for the book is the portrayal of life as a posterwriter, which i can tell you is very interesting.

Hello dtcwordfan,I thank you for your trouble, and appreciate, what you have said however this short spell on answerbank has really told me which way to go, thank you all
Not necessarily, toola, it's about exposure, but for most of us, some recogniton and the resulting pecuniary rewards would be nice, something that doesn't, per se, come fron the writing but from all the film rights etc.......
If your book is written in Word, then it can be easily printed in book form by Lulu.com for a very reasonable price.
Single copies can be had for less than £10 – I have done it myself, the results look very professional.
But it takes a bit of time formatting the pages for book printing, with left/right gutterting spacings for page bindings etc, but well worth the effort for the final product.
Such a draft book can be used to submit to literary agents for consideration – much better than a double-spaced typed draft.
hi toola, i would like to say i'm very sorry if i caused any offence. I didn't mean to suggest that your life is boring, or that you were money grabbing, only that in order to get a publisher the book has to be very special.
Sorry to come in so late. I have a couple of friends who worked in a similar environment, and not that long ago - and the stories of hand-lettering and how last-minute changes were handled are truly fascinating. Given the right angle, I think there could easily be a market for your book.
BUT don't approach publishers yourself. Most don't even open unsolicited MSs. Use the W&AY, as already advised, and get an agent first. Or self-publish first with an aim to 'selling it on' later. Good luck!
I read this the other day and did not have time to respond. I think that people of your age have had a far more interesting life that people from the 60's or 70's with all the hardship that went on during the war and after. Your job must have been artistic talent as there were no computer program's to help etc back then.
Good luck with your book.
Look what happened to Jenny Lee's memoirs. 'Call The Midwife' another ordinary person.
Hello Sycamore3house ,thank you for your post, I have been fortunate enough to be able to earn a living doing what I enjoy,I do feel for todays youngsters who cannot get a job at all, never mind one that they can enjoy. Thank you once again
Hello, I am back again, I have just had a thought, I in my spare time make Encaustic Artworks using Beeswax and Oil Bars, and a Heat Gun,If anybody would like some advice I will gladly help.
I presume that you have it loaded on your pics - in your photo editor there's usually a function for turning pics by 90 degrees a time....what are you using Apple or Microsoft?
In mine (97) you go to My Pictures and click on your photo - at the bottom right there are some small icons, including two pairs of triangles in dark and pale blue and its those that you can click on to turn your pic to how you want it - the saving is automatic.
