The Neckan

I'm looking for any info about/a copy of this poem, it's concerning a male water spirit. All I know is, it's called The Neckan.

I vaguely rember a version where the neckan does a good deed and dies for it and the priest's staff bursts into leaf

more than 17 years ago I found under the cellar of our family home a book of assorted poems by different authors one of the poems was The Neckan. there's a missing verse that the internet version doesn't carry, the verse is as follows.

but lo the staff it budded

it greened it branched it waved

'oh ruth of God the' priest cried out

'this lost sea creature save'.
