They are both pronounced the same way.  She spells it Sara

Maybe she was taking the mick?  I always thought her name was Sara, and I know four Sara's who pronounce it as follows.

The name Sara is pronounced Saaara.  Hmmmm you can't sound it too well.

It rhymes with Zara (that weird girl from Hollyoaks), or the last part of Sahara.

I agree Natalie, I know a few Sara's who pronounce it how its spelt. She was always Sara but she referred to herself as Sarah a few times.
I agree with Chazza - my friend is called Sarah but spells it Sara.  She gets most upset when people get it wrong.

Ok, fair enough if they are pronounced the same - it just seems a bit odd that someone would pronounce their name one way for their entire professional career and then change it. Maybe I'll email Radio 1, or maybe I just have far too much time on my hands!

I've never heard to her referred to Sara-rhyming-with Zara, and thats in the (round about) 10 years that she's been well known.

I have a friend called Sara and she hates it when people assume it rhymes with Zara!

Yep agree with Chazza, always know her to pronounce it like the normal Sarah way, even since the days of the girlie show.

Are you sure it wasn't Sarah Cawood who is also a presenter on Radio 1?

But my name is actually Sarah (with an h) and they are the same name. The 'h' was given to Sara in the Old testament when God (Yahweh) said that ordinary people were allowed to say his name (Abram became Abraham). That's if you follow that sort of thing...
