Name Of Author Or Series About American Indians Circa 1980S School Reading

I read these books in school in the early 80s and loved them but I can not find them online so I am looking for some help.
They were about a blind shaman and a young woman who acts as his eyes who are taken in by another tribe after theirs is lost/destroyed. I think the young woman had a name like Snow or white. There was also a brave with a simialr name. The books had a brown cover and I think there were 4 in the series.
Can any one help me find out what these books were called or who wrote them?
