I also have vague recollections of ship comedy sketches, adverts etc from when I was younger, where the 'punchline' is the fact that the ship turns out to be Titanic. Given that, 30/40 years ago there were still Titanic survivors alive, why was it deemed acceptable by many to make comedy sketches about such a terrible disaster? It would be unthinkable to use the 'Hillsborough Tragedy' in such a way, even years down the line. Why is one tragic event deemed acceptable as comedy material as opposed to another?
i don't know, and there have been far worse disasters at sea. Perhaps because the ship was deemed unsinkable, i don't know why advertising bods think this sort of stuff up, there are other subject matters they could make fun of, the church, unless you are religious, Parliament unless you are a MP, generally not much is sacred now.
Yes, Canary, I have. Double standards, though, usually apply to someone preaching one thing to others, while doing the same thing themselves.
My post is because I'm genuinely intrigued.
