I've only read one and it was very good, she's been on my 'to read' list for ages.
I have read all the" Tony Hill" books. One I really enjoyed was A Darker Domain, it was excellent, it is set in Fife and Italy, very very good.
I think that's why I haven't started to read them Catswhiskas, I've seen all the Wire In The Blood shows so will know whodunnit.
Yes, but the wire in the blood programmes were on yonks ago, you might have forgotten.I think books often dont translate very well on the telly,my bugbear at the moment is the Shetland series which is on BBC at the moment. I have read most of Anne Cleeves books, the Shetland ones are great, but if I was her I would be really annoyed at what the scriptwriters have done.
Sorry Dinki ,didn,t mean to hijack your thread.
The Wire in the Blood books are far superior to the tv series. I would start with the first in that series, appropriately called Wire in the Blood.
The first Val McDermid book featuring Tony Hill is The Mermaids Singing - I think far and away the best. Wire in the Blood was the 2nd book.
The Kate Brannigan series are great and have a lot more humour than the Tony Hill ones. A Place of Execution is also excellent and is a standalone novel, so maybe a good one to start with.
I've read most of her books and enjoyed them all. My favourite, by far, is "A Place of Execution", which was made into a 3-part television series - also very good.
