This may be completely off the wall (you haven't given much detail about the type of paintings or their subject matter) but... a friend of mine has a painting titled 'The Son's Letter' by a C Taylor. Oil painting, very rural, with Cornish folk and thatched cottage. That C Taylor was christened Albert Chevalier Taylor and he was a member of the very famous Newlyn Scool of artists. He didn't of course just do rural scenes - I've seen a well-known portrait he did of Marconi. It may be entirely wrong, but then again it may be somewhere to start.
