Should I feel guilty about this?

I was hired to edit a book, I ran out of time and I've dropped five thousand words or so, but I haven't improved the plots or the characters.

So the next time you pick up a book and you are left with a cliff hanger, you'll know who had hold of it first. Inksplotter you owe them......

I think the answer to your question is not so much guilty, as ashamed for not fulfilling your brief.
Cullable gullible

Gullibles travails.
kvaldir - :-))
I'd forgotten that boast, kv - perhaps the omitted sections were too complicated for the rest of us to comprehend.
Apoloigies, spilling mistook on your name - "what a mistake-a to make-a!"
You accepted £20K to edit a book which you didn't have time to edit (is this because it was a late commission, or you didn't plan your time...?)

Who's paying you, a publishing house, or the author? I'm appalled.
doesn't he mean it was 20k words?
shoota, very good. :o)
I'm wondering if it's a book about owls.
Ah - perhaps it was 20K words - in which case he's removed a quarter of the book!
...or perhaps the book is indeed about the rickety rackety bridge, naomi :-)
^ sorry - sherrard, not naomi....
Yeah re-read it its 20,000 words which means as Boxy so rightly said he's culled a quarter of the whole book. Allegedly.

I'd hardly brag about it, if that were the case - as author, I'd be mightily peed off.
Inksplotter If your conscience is troubling you because you have deleted 25% of the contents of the book, then you could always return 25% of the fee to the author.

It may make you feel better.!!
