I remember reading in Ellman's biography of Joyce that he had a particular favourite when it came to white wine. Does anyone remember what it was?

Nobody's perfect, Tilly. My old da was a great Joyce fan. He called me after one of the characters in the opus magnum.

He wanted to call my younger brother, Simon(another name with significance for Joyce) but our mother wouldn't have that.
That name would be too simple.
