Changing Alias

G'day Ed. I'd like to change my online alias, coupla reasons, but only advice I can find in FAQs is to close account and start again. If that's it, how long before I could re-use same email address?

why not just set up a new email address and start straightaway?

The Ed has occasionally had 'username amnesties', where people have been allowed to change their usernames but other than that, as you've indicated, you can only simply start again.

Since your old account would still be present (even though dormant) you can't re-use the same email address. However most email providers allow you to create aliases or, of course, you can just create a brand new email account with (for example) GMX:

you could try clicking on the Contact Us tab at the bottom of the page.

Change your current email address on your profile and then set up your new AB account using your preferred email address.

Try contacting the Ed by email if you are wishing to change your username/alias for security reasons. You never know he/she might be able to change it.

On the last amnesty although some applied to change their user-name, not everyone were granted the privilege, including myself.
