South Pacific Dvd.

Due to the abysmal Saturday night TV programmes, I decided to watch a DVD set that I bought some time ago which I never got around to watch.

It was a three DVD box, comprising of South Pacific, The King And I, and Oklahoma, we decided to watch South Pacific, I put the DVD into the machine and all I got was a blank screen with the music playing in the background, thinking there was something wrong I fast forwarded it, later to find that the actual film doesn't start for several minutes.

Has anyone else had this problem? Strangely enough half way through the film there was also a few minutes interlude, once again a blank screen.

Pirates in the South Pacific, I think. Sounds like a pirated copy...was it very cheap to buy?

some big 50s / 60s films like ben hur / west side story had an overture at the beginning (no picture - cinema curtains closed) this one had too

The bit at the beginning would be the original "overture", which would play at the cinema just before the main film, to get people in the mood. It looks like they did the same with your DVD.
They also did it back in the 70's when I went to the pictures to see "The Wild Geese". We had 3 or 4 minutes of a blank screen with Roy Budds music before the film starterd.
