I Took To The Road Like A Jolly ????? Poem

My Mum is currently recovering from illness, and she is trying to remember a poem she learned in school.... As far as I can understand her, it may possibly be about a hunt or something involving dogs or hounds....this is the line (possibly the first line) she keeps trying to recollect. "I took to the road like a jolly.... (could be sportsman or postman???).. Can anyone help her put the poem back in her recall

O what is the good of this chasing the sun,
Of tramping all summer and winter for fun?
But work is so wearing a fellow must try
The luck of the road like a jolly magpie,
Singing tweedle-dum, tweedle-dum, tweedle-dum

but that's part of a very long poem, A Wanderer's Song of the Sea by Charles Keeler so is probably not the one.

I wish I knew.... the subject only came up during the week when I mentioned it was now September, and that seemed to spark the memory, but I still haven't figured out if September is mentioned in the poem. Thanks for your help

I have to admit that I thought that this would be easier, but the word "Jolly" seems to be pretty common in poetry. This was all that I could find.
