The hypocrisy shown by some of Labour really is quite breathtaking.

When you consider the likes of Harriett Harmon, Ruth Kelly, Diane Abbott and their schooling choices, some of them really are of a mind of 'do as I say not as I do'

I can still remember the absurd Abbott trotting out the line that she couldn't defend the indefenisble - part of her election campaign in the election immediately before she decided to send her son privately was to support local state schools....the clear message it sent was that the kids of the plebs she represented must support the local state schools, but her child was so much better than all of theirs and therefore he simply must go private.

This is all an attack on the people criticising RTB, not a counter-argument against what it is they are saying.

Being a hypocrite makes someone hypocritical, not necessarily wrong.

Okay, let me put it simply. The fact that these people are hypocritical does not mean that they are wrong. It does not mean that their criticisms of RTB are invalid. This is not complicated stuff.

I understand that by the dismal standards of UK politics, saying "Ah-HA!" counts as a valid argument, but... well... it doesn't in reality.

The words 'cloud' and 'cuckoo' come to mind when trying to read your posts! As others have said, 'do and I say and not as I do' is hypocritical. Hypocracy can't be defended. How can Thornton criticise the Right to buy when she did it big time not even as her home but as a letting property, now worth £1m.

Hypocrisy, indeed, is wrong. But it does not mean that we should ignore the criticisms which these people have made of RTB.

The reason for that is because the case against RTB does not rely on the credibility of Emily Thornberry, or even of the Labour party. It's a bad policy, even if Labour are a bunch of incompetent sh1tlords.

Criticise Labour all you want, it does not make RTB a better policy.

It's really not very complicated.

Not everyone thinks RTB is bad policy. I think it is very popular, like it was under Thatcher. The difference is that the proceeds will be used to build more houses.

What a mess this Labour party is. You'd think they would try and act a little bit professional, especially after their last term in office and horrific mess they made of everything.
