i can't recall her having a surname. Her parents Tobias and Adelaide died when she was a baby and she was taken in by her Aunt Dete.Mind you it is many moons since I read it !!

Oh I loved the story of Heidi & I found my lovely book when we cleared out my mum's house a few yrs ago. Think I might read it for old time's sake, my granddaughters are a bit too young to appreciate it at the moment.
I remember my sister and I getting beautiful books of Heidi and Little Women, when I was 6. They had fantastic colourful illustrations. We still have all our old toys, books etc.in my mummy's attic.
I still have Heidi ,Little Women,Little Men and Jo's Boys,Black Beauty,What Katy Did and What Katy Did Next. Also lots of Just William books. All packed away in the loft. I must get them out and read them again. Will make a nice change from murder mysteries.
I also was a big fan of the secret seven books, my friends and i used to pretend to try and solve the mysteries, there was one particular story about dogs being stolen and the thief left large footprints in the snow,so we spent weeks looking for men with big feet.
