Brighthouse- Please Sit Down If You Are Reading This.

HI there I have a total of 4 things with Brighthouse and I will be finished paying in 36 weeks. Thank God. I cant afford one of the items so I am taking one of them back on Monday. It is a tablet 12 inch and I have so far paid £684 and I still have 53 weeks to pay at a total of £719 the grand total if I had kept it and paid for it would have been £1404 it is outrageous. Yes it was my fault for just signing and not reading the documents. But really there should be some regulation. What do people think?

Like you said, read the small print. I'd also add, think hard about how necessary a thing is, before you sign for it. Sleep on every decision before you fnally make it.

Not sure what regulation you want. You bought a luxury item not an essential piece of equipment so why are you asking for some sort of regulation to cover your laziness? - read the small print. You are responsible for how your life runs and shouldn't expect to be molly coddled. It's your fault, no-one else's so take responsibility. The only exception I can see is if someone is considered vulnerable due to a medical or mental condition.
If you don't pay they send a couple of big lads round to collect the stuff, and then still chase you for the money! Be even an hour late with a payment and they put an extra £5.50 on the bill. My daughter has a TV from them £23 a week, they put an extra £5.50 on for not paying until the next morning when the payment was due by 5.30pm,we were away from home and paid 9am the next morning but they still charged an extra £5.
Good luck with trying to return your tablet. I'm not sure how successful you'll be though as Brighthouse will be taking back a used tablet and not getting the full payment that you signed up to.
For someone in such serious debt already I am surprised you continue to be so profligate with your financial outlay.

I buy pretty well most things from Amazon & pay by credit card on line, I am fortunate that I am able to then clear my card every month so that I am not in debt. However if I bought a high price object I feel it would still be better to use credit card & then pay off the minimum + what I could afford each month rather than the high street loan sharks.
If you talk to them and explain the problem they will help. My daughter was missing 3 payments due to her benefits being stopped. We talked to them and they agreed to cancel 2 of the 3 payments. They will let you return items if you have genuine problems. The trouble starts if people just keep trying to avoid paying and do not talk to them. So go in and explain your problem, I think they will try to help. They don't like it when people do not try to sort problems out and try to avoid contact.
