There is a biography of Jane Austen in which her father, the Reverend George Austen, writes a letter to one of his sons entering his career, giving him advice on how to lead his life. It's a marvellous letter. I've tried to find the biography again, with no success.

Has anyone read this, and can tell me the title and author?

Is the letter real? Is the book an actual factual story or a biographical novel?
It's in Claire Tomalin's 'Jane Austen A Life' - on page 60 in my paperback edition.
