/// Security has now been increased in Britain's 47,000 churches in response ///
And how do they do that, have they issued priests and vicars with firearms?
It was also announce on the news that the NSPCC have launched a new support line specifically to help parents who are worried that their children are being radicalised.

I heard on the news this morning that some French synagogues have had
Policemen to protect them for every service this year.
No country in the world has enough security personnel to protect every place of religious worship.

/// Theres to much scaremongering going on now, the terrorist must be laughing in there ******! ///
Scaremongering is it, these atrocities are taking place almost daily, do you suggest that we shouldn't be allowed to know about them? //
Knowing is one thing.
Endless worrying, fretting, and plotting pointless reprisals is another.
The point surely is to know what is going on, but not to bow to the terrorists' aim to scare everyone, and set them against each other?

Oh so it is better to stick ones head in the sand in the hope that they will go away is it?
Strange when the authorities are forever telling us to be aware, isn't that setting ourselves against them?

Always willing to help (whatever those measures are you are referring to).
Notice that just the same as some others, you prefer not to condemn and discuss what atrocities that are taking place closer and closer to home.
But then if you did, it would seem that you were offending your Muslim friends.

Well, I haven't had any emergency meetings called by the vicar or churchwardens. We're all still ploughing our way through a 96 page document on safety issues in church and safeguarding congregation and visitors. Muslim terrorism has not, so far, entered into it, but there's a chunk about loose tiles.
I daresay we'll have to have a chat about it. No official advice received as yet (apart from re. tiles etc.). I shall suggest that someone keeps a mobile phone on silent and tuned to an emergency number and that one of our shooting/farming members props a loaded rifle in his/her pew, with the safety-catch on, of course. Then there are always the good old drums of ground white pepper - even the old ladies can carry those reliable disablers.
As I said, no official advice as yet.

No.
When I drive home, if there is a police car following me, I will be aware of it, but that does not 'set me against' the police.

Why would discussing terrorist atrocities offend sp's Muslim friends - assuming he has any - I don't know if he has or not?
Being a Muslim is not the same as being a terrorist - God, I am sounding like a cracked record!!!!!!

I wondered about sending in armed men into a church
I hope they pray whist they are there !
why not have ..... a processional jewelled cross - with the words mea culpa mea maxima culpa blazoned on it perhaps in white gold....
and the points of the cross ( except where the feet would be) sharpened and tipped with hardened steel ? or tips that shoot James bond style - or perhaps "miserere nobis"
[ that is what the christians shouted ( muslims - allahu akbar of course ) when they exchanged prisoners on the bridge at Mostar in old jugoslavia in the 1200s - well at least they exchanged prisoners and didnt butcher them ]
or carry round an image of the Virgin only in her hand she doesnt carry the signs of peace ( lily or little baby Jesus ) - but a spray can of real tear gas or paralysing gas !
sorry my classical upbringing is carrying me away
grenade ! - the Virgin instead carrying the Sign of Peace or stella Maris, could have a real detachable anti personnel grenade .....
sozza I am on a roll here
