Democracy.
9 Answers
Is this country still a democracy? I feel that over the past 30/40 years the opinions of the people haven't counted and that there seems to have been a deliberate 'dumbing-down' policy introduced. At one stage I used to value my right to vote;nowadays I don't bother too much, apathy or what?

The council of Lancashire refused permission for 'fracking',but have been over-ruled by the government. The Chinese offered May a lollipop and she took it(who's pulling her strings?)and then she stated that she voted to 'remain'! The margin was two per cent, in or out, and we still have children leaving secondary school without the knowledge to string a sentence together correctly or tackle basic maths with any confidence; simply because teachers feel under pressure to put their ticks in boxes to satisfy their head and subsequently their education authority, who in turn have to satisfy the stipulations of a government that is hardly representative of a divided country and populace that is denied the right to lawful demonstration and the denial of access to legal aid,in most cases, without either lots of money or contacts!
