That story first appeared in Roy Clarke's Summer Wine novel, that preceeded the tv show by several years.

I had a quick look but I'm not sure that its exactly what I remember. There was a lot of moving the body about from place to place in the one I recall.
Did they make another version for TV as well ?
I've got all of the LOTSW Christmas specials on DVD and 'Getting Sam Home' is the only one where they need to move a dead body. Further, Google suggests that there was no other episode (at Christmas or otherwise) where they found it necessary to transport a corpse.

Perhaps, with the passing of time, your brain has got it mixed up with the episode of Fawlty Towers where a body keeps getting moved about?

On the same topic, the recently departed Jean Alexander played Aunty Wainright. Whose aunty was she?
^^^ She was Howard's aunt - which is why she always claimed to be giving him special deals, "because you're family".
