Can you explain Dubois Talented Tenth Theory to me? Also, what 3 impressions are Dubois talking about when he says, "On the whole, the distinct 3 impressions left by Booker T Washington's propaganda?"

DuBois believed there were a "Talented Tenth"  of blacks who were talented in that they were very good at art, music and the performing arts and that these blacks should be encouraged and helped. Are you doing ASlevel history by any chance?

Sophie, I'm not, I just wanted to get this information out their to individuals who view this site. This site is new to me and i have been getting a lot of flak from individuals on this sight because of the questions that I have posted. Below is my answer:

DuBois calculated that approximately 10% of the Africans in America could be developed to constitute a "Black Elite" that would train and educate the masses of African Americans. He believed in the higher education of a "Talented Tenth" who through their knowledge of modern culture could guide the American Negro into a higher civilization.

Oh right, it's just I did A level history and we had to do an essay on WDB and Booker T Washington but it was a while back, hence my answer not being completely correct!
