Good Evening, all, hope someone can help.

OH and I are lifelong fans of Dorothy L. Sayers and the subj. arose this evening. I cited Edward P. as I.M.O. the definitive Peter Wimsey and eventually we decided to buy a boxed set (BBC 1980's OH missed it as he was in France).

We can't find one! We can find boxed sets with Ian Carmichael (dear chap and a good series, but not the same) but only a couple with Petherbridge - and the prices are steep, but steep! Can anybody point us in the direction of what we want, please? T.I.A. xx

There is this set but you may have to buy a compatible player, it's region one.

Thanks, Vulcan. We found it, but a compatible set would be too expensive. :(
Question Author
^^^ compatible player
I don’t think a uk box set exists. I have got the three that are on amazon but I didn’t pay as much as they cost now!!
Question Author
Thanks anyway, woof. Happy new year!
I am another fan of the Edward Petherbridge versions of the Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane stories (Harriet Walter equally good as Harriet). I have all three on CD box sets but now have nothing to play them on - a downside of progress!! The DVDs were expensive and all are now unavailable anyway. Get your act together BBC!
Question Author
I echo that! How do we get the Beeb to do something ?
I didn't see many of the Edward Petherbridge ones, but I've always liked him as an actor. I remember in one of the episodes a very moving moment when he suddenly and awkwardly removes his hat and proposes to Harriet Vane. Have I recalled that correctly?!
Question Author
Yes, goodgoalie. If you see a set of DVDs let me know!
its his oxford headcovering he removes. They are both on Oxford staying at their respective colleges and are walking home after a concert, both in academic gown and bonnet.
Question Author
Thanks, woof. :) x
A DVD box set does seem to exist, just unavailable at the moment:

I'll keep trying then - thank you very much goodgoalie. :)
That has been unavailable for the last four years to my certain knowledge. The two reviews say they hope it becomes available soon and that they are watching it on Alibi!
Question Author
Fingers very firmly crossed then.
jourdain, I suspect that is a box mock up and the item never existed :(
Question Author
Thanks, woof, saves me a lot of searching. It was such a brilliant series that I find it hard to believe it is unavailable.
well you can get all three stories but at a price......
Question Author
Can't afford those, woof. Never mind....coats and cloth! :)
