Can anyone give me an example of how to construct a sound argument when you are given a claim or a conclusion?

Though the main things to avoid (which are commonly overused by most politicians, people who are generally just wrong and other non-specific weasels) are hyperbole and strawman arguments and ad hominem attacks.
