Some say Woolf was a feminist writer, in the way she concentrated on the interior life of her characters, and in her use of female characters; but that isn't exactly dealing with feminist issues.
fee fi fo fum, I smell a homework question!
Question Author
I am thinking about writing my dissertation on feminist writers and am exploring the different ways these writers resonded through literature, eg some were openly political while others protested to things differently. answers could be on any of Woolfs books, but i am interested in the style of To the lighthouse

In the US, a dissertation is what you write to get your Ph.D. -- the highest level of graduate school. Is it something different in the UK?

I think you'll have to read the book, or at least the Cliffs notes, to figure out if it's openly political or a veiled protest or a protest at all.

Question Author

in the UK you write your dissertation in the last year of a degree. I have read the book - but because it is so complexed and open to many criticisms I thought it would be interesting to see how others responded to the it. The dissertation accounts for a huge part of your overall degree, so I need to make sure that I choose the right text to write on. I am only doing a bit of background research, I won't start writing untill well into next year.
