Russian is far more difficult than Spanish. To start with, you will have to learn a completely new alphabet and the grammar is horrendously difficult, even if you already speak another language such as French or German. You even have to master the concept of not having the verbs "to be" of "to have". I struggled with it for two years and barely got beyond being able to write a few simple sentences whereas I achieved a Spanish O Level in one year. On the other hand if you want a real challenge, go for it. Now that the cold war is over, Russian speakers may come into their own in the new business & economic environment.
