Never mind, it was a good excuse for the paper to print loads of irrelevant and gratuitous photographs of her - good job she didn't look like the back end of a Thames barge, otherwise, no photos, and probably no 'news' story either.

As has been said - there is no proof at all that the cat is the guilty party. I suspect that it may have been carrying the bug, but it's not important.
Cats are serial killers but I think that we are safe from them. You will (probably) not be murdered in the night or suffer serious problems when a cat scratches you. (Bites are different - the can turn bad!)
