what time did Great Expectations Story take place ? and where ?

Great Expectations is set during early Victorian England. I do not know where exactly he lives as a young boy, but I do know that he moves to London when he is taken under the wing of the anonymous benefactor.

I always thought the convict had escaped from Dartmoor prison.But now i think of it it was the prison hulks in kent.In other words the more i think of it the less sure i am!! So now like you i dont know....Thanks.
