Anyone else read it? Based on a true story, the result of the author’s interviews with the main character. Poorly constructed and such a wasted opportunity for a writer. A huge disappointment.
HereIam, I’ve read both those books and quite enjoyed them so horses for courses I suppose. Ar least for what they were they were well written. This book is an offence to literature.
CG, I’m going to initiate a thread in Society & Culture about holocaust memorials.
I've got a book at home to start reading: Treblinka: A Survivor's Story by Chil Rajchman. I don't know if anyone else here had read this book and what they thought?
Rachman was one of only approximately 70 people who escape Treblinka (roughly 70,000 perished) and he resettled in Montevideo and died in 2004, aged 89.
Will do. I've got a couple of Documetary Series on DVD based on the Nazis, the death camps and the Final Solution to watch. I'll report back on those too.
CG, I can’t recommend any non-fiction books but as I’ve said I would recommend The Boy in Striped Pyjamas and another like that insofar as it was initially written for young people but subsequently adopted by adults, The Book Thief, which tells a tale of life for civilians in Nazi Germany. A strange little book narrated by the character ‘Death’.
I Downloaded this to my Kindle, not that impressed with it , found it a bit boring ,I've visited Auschwitz and Birkenau camps and thought I'd read up on this
Probably not Naomi, I've read the boy in the striped pyjamas but made the mistake of then buying the video which I thought wasn't as good as the book, the book was more informative
