First Time For Svein Finne

In the latest novel by Jo Nesbo, The Knife, Harry Hole "does battle" with an old adversary, Svein Finne, who is now out of prison after being caught by Harry Hole, BUT...when was the first time Harry came up against Svein Finne - and I don't mean The Thirst - it was in an earlier book, but I can't find out which one it is! Can any Nesbo fan out there please help? Ta Muchly and Take Care.

Svein is not in any books before Thirst, but it is implied that Harry dealt with him when he was a young cop.

Well, it says that Svein was put away in Ila prison after being caught in Harry's first big case, but there are so many views as to which is his first big case, The Bat being the first novel, but is it the case in which Finne is caught or is it in The Redbreast, where some people feel is the real start of Harry's reign!...I am at a loss, as I cannot find a definitive listing as to characters and ALL their appearances - but what the heck, it's only fiction, innit?...smile - Take Care Mamya!
